gift packaging products, including gift-wrap, gift bags and tissue,
currently has an excellent opportunity for a Buyer/Planner.
If you would like to join a dynamic company, we are seeking a
Buyer/Planner who will be accountable for the creation and receipt of
vendor purchase orders to meet customer ship dates on time and to
validate suggested order quantities, placement of purchase orders,
tracking vendor production and transportation of product to
pre-defined final destination in support of internal and external
customer requirements.

| Description |
Essential functions include:
Manage procurement requirement reports to maximize customer service
levels while optimizing inventory levels of raw materials.
Coordinate priorities and communicate timely with Production
Scheduler on all vendor-purchased materials and tooling cylinders.
Manage purchases to corresponding budgeted inventory levels.
Elevate supplier delivery issues through Purchasing and Management
as necessary to maintain customer service objectives.
Provide Purchasing/Sourcing annual and monthly rolling procurement
projections to support the creation of vendor contracts and programs.
Work with Purchasing/Sourcing regarding vendor contract
requirements/programs in support of rebate or pricing requirements.
Create purchase orders to meet required customer ship dates.
Expedite and de-expedite vendor purchase orders to deliver in time
to support the production schedule and customer required ship dates.
Take initiative to work with other internal departments to identify
cross-functional solutions and make recommendations for improvements.
For international purchased items, may require on-site production
monitoring and tracking at overseas vendor facilities.
Our ideal candidate:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business or Logistics/Supply Chain
Management.
At least 3 years in a detailed planning and scheduling role.
APICS certification preferred. Willingness to obtain certification
if not certified.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access.
Requires Project management skills, a logical approach to problem
solving, analytical skills and a big-picture understanding with short
term tactical focus.
Ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional peers,
upper level management, as well as both domestic and off shore
suppliers.
The ability to make independent judgments and utilize problem
solving skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to
oversee activities related to the purchase of material, material
control, inventory control, shipping/receiving and stores functions.
Plans, schedule and manage the efficient movement of material to
ensure availability of product to satisfy customer demand and meet
inventory goals. The major duties in fulfilling this responsibility
include:
Working with the forecasting group in Memphis to develop and
communicate a realistic production plan.
Coordinating the transition of new products into manufacturing.
Serving as the primary point of contact for product availability
information.
Working with all areas in Instruments to develop a reasonable
production plan that ensures efficient use of manufacturing resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Manage and lead all material management functions and activities
within the Instrument site, including, Planning and Scheduling, and
working closely with procurement.
Establish policies and procedures required to effectively develop and
execute the production plans.
Serves as the primary focal point for product availability information
and plays a key role in the introduction of new products into
manufacturing.
Ensures sufficient product is planned and scheduled to meet overall
demand.
Ensures sufficient raw and component material is planned to meet
production demand
Works with Forecasting and all other areas to assist in achievement of
overall inventory investment goals.
Monitors actual performance against plans and provides timely feedback
to Company management.
Maintains constant awareness of factors that could impact ability to
supply product through close interaction with Purchasing,
Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control.
Establishes strong lines of communication with Memphis to obtain
information and provide feedback on product status.
Helps establish Instrument inventory targets and monitors status
against these targets.
Develops and maintains a working environment that provides opportunity
for professional growth of staff.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully,

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Four-year degree is required. The degree can be in any appropriate
field such as business, engineering, or any technical discipline. Due
to the high visibility and level of contact this position will have,
the following specific experience will be required:
At least eight years in materials management with at least four of
these in a management role.
The materials management experience must include the full scope of
planning, inventory management and scheduling.
Significant experience working directly with senior level management.
Strong understanding of MRP, materials management concepts and
techniques, and demonstrated ability to effectively apply in an
operating environment
Good overall business understanding.
Experience in the use of computer systems.
APICS certified.

Good organization skills ability to plan work and meet schedules;
